Tidbits

I have lots of tidbits to share, but no cohesive story. I suppose this means I’m getting a lot done, but I’ll give a warning ahead of time that this post will be dull!

I’ll work backwards.

Paul and I had a great Thanksgiving meal with our next door neighbor yesterday. He came over with a yummy white wine that went well with the turkey I roasted. Afterward, we watched Valkyrie. Our neighbor is quiet like Paul and I are, and we get along great. Just another reason to love our new neighborhood.

I’m about halfway done winterizing our house. Some things needed to be moved around, and our outdoor wooden furniture needed a drink of linseed oil. I think I got more oil on me than anywhere else. The windows really could use plastic over them to help retain the heat better, but that will have to wait. We need to buy winter tires, too. Our car is sort-of a waste right now. We hardly use it at all, but we will need it when one or both of us is back to work in Ottawa.

I over-seeded and fertilized the lawn, which was way cool. Only a fellow gardening fanatic will understand :-)

I’m currently learning about #include directives in my C language course. I’m also still plugging away at advanced CSS layouts, more semantically meaningful HTML markup and JavaScript. I even took a little dip into jQuery, and I love it so far. I’m finishing module 2 in my psych course, which covers individual resilience factors. Next up: family resilience factors.

I missed my family reunion because of Paul’s deadlines on Benjamin Bear. We wouldn’t have had much time to spend in Virginia. Since the traveling is expensive, it makes more sense to go when we can make it count with a longer stay. I haven’t been home since my mother’s funeral last December, which really sucks. I won’t complain any more than this, out of a dislike for all things whiny. Hopefully a springtime visit is in my future!
